Programs
The following is a list describing our current programs and updates on our latest projects.
K-5 WinterSculpt:
This program was developed to give children attending Kindergarten through fifth grade basic introduction and hands on experience with snow and ice sculpture. A representative from MSISF comes to the school and can spend up to several days rotating classes through a hands on demonstration where everyone participates, or we can put on a 2 to 4 hour assembly style demonstration with limited hands on participation from random selected participants. The program is available January through March and openings are limited.
WinterSculpt Sr.
This program was developed to expose the art of Snow and Ice Sculpture to the States Senior Citizens. Any Maine facility that houses or assist Senior Citizens can apply for this program. A representative from MSISF visits the facility and puts on a 1 to 4 hour sculpting demonstration that best fits the facilities schedule. Photo opportunities with the sculptor are available at the end of the demonstration. The event can be set up with interactive humor, or done in sync with selected classical music. The program is available January through March and openings are limited.
College Mentor Program:
Currently we are running this program at Southern Maine Community College. A Representative from MSISF makes bi-weekly visits to the College to assist its students with basic snow and ice sculpting techniques. The students that want to learn more are offered opportunities to work on MSISF apprentice projects. This program is available for any college located in the State of Maine. Openings are limited.
MSISF Apprentice Program:
This Program is available to participants at least 18 years of age, who have a genuine desire to learn the art of Snow and Ice Sculpture. We maintain a maximum of 8 apprenticeships at any given time. Each apprentice will receive several opportunities for one on one instruction from MSISF approved instructor's. They will also be involved in a variety of sand, snow, and ice sculpting events with interaction with high level professional sculptors. There is no specific time limit to complete the apprenticeship, but each apprentice must show progress towards the goal of graduating by passing a hands on timed sculpting test.
